Fill and Sign a PDF Online (Free)

Type your answers into the blanks, check the right boxes, and add your signature — all in one pass, in your browser. No account, no upload, no fillable fields required.

Fill & sign a PDF free

Most PDFs people need to deal with aren’t a bare signature line — they’re a form: blanks for your name and date, a few checkboxes, a paragraph to initial, and then a signature at the bottom. “Fill and sign” means doing both in the same tool, whether or not the PDF has real fillable form fields underneath it.

What you can add to your PDF

  1. 1. Typed answers

Click anywhere on the page and type — your name, an address, a date, a dollar figure. Drag the box to line it up with the blank.

  2. 2. Checkboxes

Drop a checkbox on any option and mark it. Useful for the yes/no and pick-one questions most forms are full of.

  3. 3. Your signature

Draw or type your signature once, then place it wherever the form asks you to sign or initial.

No fillable fields? That’s fine.

A lot of forms you need to fill and sign — a scanned application, a printed contract someone emailed you, an old intake sheet — have no underlying AcroForm fields at all. Adobe’s “fill & sign” and most free tools only help once a form is already interactive.

This tool skips that requirement. You place each text box, checkbox, and signature wherever you need it on the page, so it works the same on a flat scan as it does on a proper fillable form.

Is this legally valid?

For ordinary forms and agreements, a typed answer and a drawn or typed signature are legally recognized in the US (ESIGN/UETA), the EU and UK (eIDAS), and many other countries. This tool gives you a normal, self-signed PDF with your filled-in answers and signature on it.

What it does not add is an audit trail or tamper-evident seal — so it offers limited evidence of who filled and signed the document if that’s ever challenged. Don’t use it for wills, deeds, court filings, or anything that legally requires notarization or a witness.

Need a record of who filled it out, when, and proof it wasn’t changed afterward — or need someone else to fill and sign their own copy? Create a free Evenseal account. This is not legal advice.

Need someone else to fill it out and sign too?

Send a form for someone else to fill and sign and get back a sealed, certified copy with a verifiable audit trail. Free to start — one flat price when you’re ready to send without limits.

Frequently asked questions

What does "fill and sign" mean, exactly?+
Two things in one pass: typing your answers into a form’s blank spaces (name, date, address, checkboxes) and adding your signature where the document asks for it. Most PDFs people need to "fill and sign" are applications, intake forms, and agreements — not just a signature line.
Does this work on PDFs that don’t have real fillable fields?+
Yes. Most PDFs floating around online are flat scans or printouts with no underlying form fields at all — this tool doesn’t depend on any. You place a text box, checkbox, or signature anywhere on the page yourself, so it works on scanned and non-fillable PDFs the same way it works on a proper form. Filling a fillable PDF form.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?+
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser — your file is opened, filled, signed, and saved back to your own device. It’s never sent to a server, so nobody but you sees it.
Is a typed-in, self-signed PDF legally valid?+
For most everyday forms and agreements, yes — a typed or drawn signature is a valid electronic signature under laws like the US ESIGN Act and UETA and the EU/UK’s eIDAS rules. This free tool produces a self-signed document with no audit trail, so it offers limited proof if a signature is ever disputed. Don’t use it for wills, deeds, or documents that legally require notarization or a witness. Are electronic signatures legal?.
